Posing for photos can be awful, and I realised a lot of my friends with young families have avoided having any professional portraits done at all. I think that’s rather a shame - doing a photoshoot together can be a really fun experience and a lovely memory in itself. Hence: terrible family portrait shoots. The aim is for them to be fun and silly, both to shoot and as an end result.
Fundraising for the work we do in the Fred Lab is boring as hell, so all proceeds from these shoots go directly into funding our researchers to work on the stuff we care about. You get a brilliant terrible photo, and we get to keep doing our work.
You can come to the studio or I can come to you; we can spend lots of time coming up with ideas, use big professional lighting and do big professional things - or I can come with an iPhone and grab what we need in 20 minutes. We even work with artificial intelligence now, to create whatever weird and terrible backgrounds or ideas you’d like.
